Welcome to the September 9th Foodie Friday. It's a chilly afternoon in the Tennessee hills, and I can't get warm. I could turn on the gas heat, but I'm not quite ready. So I'm layered in wool and flannel; while I put the finishing touches on the book, I'm thinking about heart-warming food.
I am also doing a Foodie experiment. I bought a slow-cooker to see if I can write and cook at the same time (and not succumb to fast food). But when time and energy permit, I plan to immerse myself in
autumn--views, smells, flavors, and traditions.
What's your favorite Fall food?
Mushrooms in puff-pastry
Apple Upside-Down Cake
Hot chocolate
Texas-style Nachos
When I crave warmth, chili is probably my "go-to" food.
For non-foodie offerings, check out The Snuggle Season and get into the spirit of Fall.

I always begin baking bread and making chili and soups when the weather turns. It is cooler here in the night but still nice during the day so we are still loving our summery/go into fall type foods.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Butter Yum.. pot pie does it for me...feels like a good day... that and bread.. always does it.
ReplyDeleteI just loved your Hot Chocolate photo, oh yum.
ReplyDeleteBut my favorite fall food is probably Apple Crisp.
I ahven't really COOKED much this summer, hubby has and we have grilled alot but today I needed to make something cozy and familiar. It is a recipe from my childhood and I make it all fall and winter. I ahven't posted it so will try to get it in next weeks FF. It is pork chops with onion and celery in a tomato sauce. Simmered for an hour the chops fall apart. I serve it over rice and we love it! In the winter we also almost always make a big batch of chili and watch football, yes, I love football too!!!! I am really ready for "winter foods" and SOUPS!!!!!! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteDo you have a link to the apple upside down cake?????????
ReplyDeleteHI,
ReplyDeleteI shared my Walnut Balsamic Dressing with a video!
Something appley and cinnamony topped with ice cream!
ReplyDeleteChilly here too the past few days. I'm looking forward to slow braised meat and earthy soups, caramel apples, mums and sitting by a fire outdoors toasting marshmallows.

ReplyDeleteOh my! I have missed visiting with you! Just read the "White Wall Are In..." post! White walls and slipcovers are for people without kids, grandkids, and lapdogs who think they are labs :) And yes, I've heard they are washable! This glorious weather is just a tease, but I am loving it!! Hope things are going well, with Teeny and anxiously awaiting her return!
