Welcome to the June 24th Foodie Friday.
The other day I was thinking...if I was a food, what would I be?
Personally, I wouldn't want to be edible--I wouldn't want anyone to eat me. But after I got over the logistics, I let goofiness take hold, and I remembered all the conversations I'd overheard at funeral homes and family gatherings--with people being compared to food.

Personally, I wouldn't want to be edible--I wouldn't want anyone to eat me. But after I got over the logistics, I let goofiness take hold, and I remembered all the conversations I'd overheard at funeral homes and family gatherings--with people being compared to food.
"Aunt Kick is sweet as honey and just as sticky."
"Billy Bob is hard as a nut on the outside but underneath, he's a cream puff."
"Her personality was sour as a lemon."
Which food are you--an olive, flour, whipped cream, berries, or a turnip?
Are you a combination or are you another food?
Do you have a food analogy?
It's just us Foodies here. Tell us everything.
Take the Food Quiz:
1. Are you an olive?
Olives are peacemakers. They are the first to extend the proverbial olive branch.
Olives think of themselves as drab. In a crowd, they might be easily overlooked.
Olives think of themselves as drab. In a crowd, they might be easily overlooked.
The olive can be found in salads, pizzas, and appetizers.
They work well with flour-based products, tomatoes, and other olives.
Just don't push them around, because deep inside, they've got a hard, little pit.
Just don't push them around, because deep inside, they've got a hard, little pit.
Without this quiet, little fruit, we wouldn't have tapenade or olive oil.
While some of us can survive without tapenade, life without extra-virgin oil would be drab indeed.

2. Are you flour?
Flour is quiet and unassuming--but it's essential.
It's a multi-tasker, the key ingredient for fried chicken, biscuits, and cake.
Flour isn't afraid of making a mess.
3. Are you whipped cream?
Whipped cream is light-hearted and poofy.
It's bland unless you add sugar.
Then it transforms.
Whipped cream assumes the shape of its vessel: Put it in a bowl, and it's round. Put it into a mold, and it can be a flower, a shell, a moon.
It can be piped into shapes to garnish a dessert. It can be the dessert.
Whipped cream can be a smooth operator, but it's easily molded by others.
Whipped cream needs a stabilizer or it will separate into a weepy mess.
4. Are you a berry?
Berries are fresh, sun-loving, and naturally sweet.
Berries are easily bruised and perishable.
They enjoy the company of other berries.
5. Are you a turnip?
Turnips are loners and aren't afraid of dirt.
They work well with other turnips.
Turnips can be bitter unless you add a spoonful of sugar.
But they get the job done.
Which food do you resemble?
A combination?

ReplyDeleteI am a combination. I recognized myself in flour and whipped cream.
ReplyDeleteI love the images.
I am longing to get back to FF on a regular basis. J is definitely hoping I do.
I think I'm probably flour but a nutty, assertive flour - perhaps almond flour ;) Fun post!
ReplyDeleteI think I am definitely whipped cream, I need lots of sugar and my husband is definitely my stabilizer! Plus, I am fattening!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what I am but I'd like to be whipped cream as it has been my favorite treat since I first ate a Charlotte Russe as a chil :)
ReplyDeleteHmm, I like the idea of flour, but I think I'm most like a lemon: sunny, cheerful. Sure I am sour, but with the right applications I can be yummy and sweet, refreshing even. I'm also good at cleaning, and I can be a bright addition to your decor. Yep. I'm a lemon.
ReplyDeleteFun post!!! i believe I'm a berry..

Gosh, I don't know WHAT to think I am....perhaps just a tossed salad, full of different ingredients all mixed up? I have so many interests & hobbies that I hardly have a spare minute these days, so that seems to describe me.
ReplyDeleteCute idea for a post & I love all those wonderful photos, ML.
Hugs,
Rett
Absolutely beautiful photos.
