Got Cellulite? Eat Cake!

If Mischa Barton has cellulite, then what hope do I, a 55 year old cheesecake addict, have?
I decided to go underground and investigate cellulite--and to find alternative cures. I won't get into the causes of "orange peel skin," but if you are interested, you can read all about it at Cellulite Treatment Dot Org.
If you're like me, cellulite doesn't need a definition, although you can find one in Wiki.
Not even the stars are immune:
The paparazzi love to stalk cellulite-prone celebrities:

But is there really a cure?
Thermage is a new method that uses a laser to dissolve cellulite. Available through a physician, each treatment can take a chunk out of your pocketbook--$4000.
Dermatologists are eagerly awaiting the FDA's approval on an ultrasound machine that supposedly zaps both fat AND cellulite.
Okay, what if time, energy, and money prevent you from indulging in these medical miracles? Well, apparently a few DIY methods are still around. Spa Wraps are affordable and, some say, effective ($80-$200)
New Fangled Anti-Cellulite Creams are all the rage, in all price ranges:
Soap & Glory Slimwear Puff Draining Peptide cream $13
Korres Garcinia and Guarana toning Cream, $38
Boots No 7 Protect & Perfect Body Serum, $25
Chanel Body Excellence Firmign and Refining Serum, $120
Bliss Fat Girl Sleep, $38
I, Gollum, have done exhaustive research on the subject. I recommend a different sort of cream-related items:

Me, I would rather spend $$ on cute little cream pitchers.

Or I might listen to deliciously poofy music

How about an antique Nortiake whipped cream bowl and ladle from Replacements Ltd (price unavailable)?

Or what about this darling silver cream pitcher from Ruby Lane? ($58)

This antique cat pitcher is adorable

However, if you aren't in the mood for pitchers, I highly recommend a cream cake:

Or double cream from Devon (available at Publix in their British foods section):
But cellulite seems to be part of the natural world. A cellulite sky is a beautiful thing to behold:
It's all about how we look at the world, and ourselves--what we feel in the heart trumphs how the world sees us. We should all celebrate--and eat cake. :-)

  5. Dr. Oz says no such thing as a cellulite cure! Now you've made me want to go to the freezer and then pull out my old Herb Alpert album--I do have "A Taste of Honey" :) Thanks for putting it all in perspective!

  9. We're a bit obsessed, aren't we? Love the post and I agree -- $120 cream or 4 $30 pitchers -- I would take the latter!

  11. So it is 5 am and I am drinking my second cup of coffee and the tears are rolling down my face. You are too funny! I totally agree - I love "dimples". At this age, you just might as well enjoy the finer things in life and forget looking 19. Maybe I'll just make a chocolate cheesecake today to celebrate.

Thanks for the laugh. You know laughing makes you live longer.

  12. Oh my goodness. I'm disturbed that I find this fascinating. Well yes, I'd rather purchase a new vase as well. I know that it will hold up better than my body does.

  21. Great post! I had cellulite in high school and college when i weighed 95 pounds. After 3 kiddos, at age 43, and 20 more pounds, I still have it, but the same amount. No worse, no better. I love seeing the starletts with it. It makes me feel so much better!

  27. I've heard that (unfortunately) there is absolutely no cure, I guess via Oprah/Dr. Oz..., only things you can do that temporarily make it look better..., temporarily being the operative word.

  29. I'm with you; I'd much rather eat cake or buy a piece of cute dishware than spend money on those creams that I'm sure do nothing other than take money out of people's pockets.

  40. if you want to know how to see if you have cellulite pinch the skin around your buttocks and/or upper thighs and if there is an uneven surface or lumpy surface then you most probably have some...
there is a few treatments for cellulite if you go into beauty salons ask if they do treatments for cellulite most beauty salons do cellulite treatments...
