If Mischa Barton has cellulite, then what hope do I, a 55 year old cheesecake addict, have?
I decided to go underground and investigate cellulite--and to find alternative cures. I won't get into the causes of "orange peel skin," but if you are interested, you can read all about it at Cellulite Treatment Dot Org.If you're like me, cellulite doesn't need a definition, although you can find one in Wiki.
Not even the stars are immune:
The paparazzi love to stalk cellulite-prone celebrities:But is there really a cure?
Thermage is a new method that uses a laser to dissolve cellulite. Available through a physician, each treatment can take a chunk out of your pocketbook--$4000.
Dermatologists are eagerly awaiting the FDA's approval on an ultrasound machine that supposedly zaps both fat AND cellulite.
Okay, what if time, energy, and money prevent you from indulging in these medical miracles? Well, apparently a few DIY methods are still around. Spa Wraps are affordable and, some say, effective ($80-$200)
New Fangled Anti-Cellulite Creams are all the rage, in all price ranges:Soap & Glory Slimwear Puff Draining Peptide cream $13
Korres Garcinia and Guarana toning Cream, $38
Boots No 7 Protect & Perfect Body Serum, $25
Chanel Body Excellence Firmign and Refining Serum, $120
Bliss Fat Girl Sleep, $38
I, Gollum, have done exhaustive research on the subject. I recommend a different sort of cream-related items:Me, I would rather spend $$ on cute little cream pitchers.

Or I might listen to deliciously poofy music

How about an antique Nortiake whipped cream bowl and ladle from Replacements Ltd (price unavailable)?

Or what about this darling silver cream pitcher from Ruby Lane? ($58)

This antique cat pitcher is adorable

However, if you aren't in the mood for pitchers, I highly recommend a cream cake:

Or double cream from Devon (available at Publix in their British foods section):
But cellulite seems to be part of the natural world. A cellulite sky is a beautiful thing to behold:
Great post today...thanks for sharing...Pat H

Dr. Oz says no such thing as a cellulite cure! Now you've made me want to go to the freezer and then pull out my old Herb Alpert album--I do have "A Taste of Honey" :) Thanks for putting it all in perspective!
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I certainly enjoyed the video. I guess stars aren't perfect after all. :)
ReplyDeleteD
Oh My gosh! Thanks so much for the bit of humor today! I needed that! I am with you, pass me the cheesecake and of course coffee with EXTRA cream!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Karyn
Great post! Thanks for the laugh.
ReplyDeleteWe're a bit obsessed, aren't we? Love the post and I agree -- $120 cream or 4 $30 pitchers -- I would take the latter!
ReplyDeleteOH Gollum, Thanks, boy did I need this today, I am trying to diet and make the problem go away and now you have convinced me I can relax and just try to be healthy and buy more stuff.....how wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSee you on the treadmill.
Barbara
So it is 5 am and I am drinking my second cup of coffee and the tears are rolling down my face. You are too funny! I totally agree - I love "dimples". At this age, you just might as well enjoy the finer things in life and forget looking 19. Maybe I'll just make a chocolate cheesecake today to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laugh. You know laughing makes you live longer.
Charla
Oh my goodness. I'm disturbed that I find this fascinating. Well yes, I'd rather purchase a new vase as well. I know that it will hold up better than my body does.
ReplyDeleteHa! Great post...you had me at the first picture to the last!
ReplyDeleteVery clever post. I actually think I own that Herb Alpert album.
ReplyDeleteExcellent post! Love it!
ReplyDeleteHa Ha ....just love your sense of humor! I totally agree.
ReplyDeleteWho sings that song on the video? Love it.
I love to start my day with a good laugh! Thanks so much for this post!
ReplyDeleteMorning, Dear Gollum! Now I know your book writing is done for now ~ you've got too much tiny time on your hands! :) I love this! When skinny gals get cellulite ~ we're in trouble. You can poke a fork in me ~ I'm done! :)
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
shelia :)
I'll take your advice and Eat Cake!
ReplyDeleteLaughing my butt off this morning; maybe a good way to get the cellulite off......I will never look at the sky the same way again.
ReplyDeleteToo cute......
OMG Justin broke up with Cameron????????????
ReplyDeleteThe after pic is airbrushed to perfection not lasered or treated any other way. These hucksters.
I'm with you...let them eat cake.
Great post! I had cellulite in high school and college when i weighed 95 pounds. After 3 kiddos, at age 43, and 20 more pounds, I still have it, but the same amount. No worse, no better. I love seeing the starletts with it. It makes me feel so much better!
ReplyDeletexxx kim
I like your philosophy! Give me a cream pitcher and/or cheesecake, every time!:-)
ReplyDeleteWonderful post!
Today's post can only multiply your followers by a million bazillion! Bravo!
ReplyDeleteI would rather spend the money on dishes myself, lol! That cake is very tempting!...Christine
ReplyDeleteWhat a delima! I think I would use the cream ware and a cute skirt for the pool.
ReplyDeleteLove this! I only wish I could learn to love my dimples...Karen
ReplyDeleteI've heard that (unfortunately) there is absolutely no cure, I guess via Oprah/Dr. Oz..., only things you can do that temporarily make it look better..., temporarily being the operative word.
ReplyDeletegreat post! CHEERS! Michele
ReplyDeleteI'm with you; I'd much rather eat cake or buy a piece of cute dishware than spend money on those creams that I'm sure do nothing other than take money out of people's pockets.
ReplyDeleteKathy at Kathy's Cottage mentioned your post about cellulite so I though I'd stop by and read it. I'm glad I came to visit!
ReplyDeleteRhondi
Oh, Gollum...I do so love your sense of humor...your personality...your 'way with words'...your 'downhome' sweetness...and your amazing talent of SO many things.

Love this post. A few decades ago, in my early 20s, I went for an expensive cellulite wrap treatment. All I got was a great nap.
ReplyDeleteI second this post! :-) One of these days I'm going to find that cream in Publix. :-)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely like your remedies better! I remember that Herb Albert Album - my parents had it. HaHa! :D Jewel
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Thanks for making me smile.
ReplyDeleteJane
My feelings exactly! (YOu can tell by looking at me!) Great post. If you have cellulite, I would like to know where it is, and I also can say I completely give up on myself! (We might be getting a little obsessed if the clouds start looking like cellulite, but I agree, they do!) laurie
ReplyDeleteLOL! great post! a a great perspective on something most of us have to deal with! even skinny people!
