Every Thursday, the gentle clink of china can be heard far and wide as ladies and gents put together tablescapes. You can hear the swish of tablecloths and the clap of footsteps as bloggers shop their rooms for inspirational items. I love to participate in this event--I always look forward to the colors, linens, and dishes; but most of all, I love visiting with my girlfriends (and my guy-friend, Artie). Tablescape Thursday is really more about dishes, isn't it? It's a party, and a joy.

Two black-and-white bird plates served as the foundation. Mama and I started looking for black, ecru, & white stuff.
The glass bird figurine came from Hancock's closing sale. Dr. Gollum always brings little eggs when he finds them. We put these on a plate and added a glass cloche. Mama found placecard holders.

You've seen these black floral napkins before, but they look rather spiffy with organza sheaths. The napkin rings were one of those "finds" at the antique mall--so were the bird dishes.
(I'm really enjoying white/cream...in fact, I have been thinking about giving the master bedroom a summer look....isn't it funny how tablescaping is a "gateway" to other projects? :-) This sounds like another idea for Met Monday!)
Last week, my granddaughter played and played with the ceramic birds. I sent her home with faux eggs, nests, and the rest of the birds. :-)

A Note About Foodie Friday: the link will go "live" on Friday, June 5th, at 9 am Central (8 Eastern). I have been posting it on Thursdays, but I'm changing it due to technical (bandwith) problems. If Mr. Linky isn't working, just leave your link in the comment section, and I'll make links.
I had a wonderful suggestion to do a "June Wedding" theme--what about Friday, June 26th, for a Wedding Foodie Friday?
A word about the themes...they are always optional. Cooking can be time consuming and messy. Sometimes I am lucky to put together a meal, much less try to do something more ambitious. So, if you'd like to do something non-wedding-ie on June 26 (that's Dr. Gollum's birthday, so he'll be picking the FF food that week), you won't be alone.
Again...
The link for "Foodie Friday" will go live on Friday, June 5th, at 9 a.m. central.

I love the look of the organza with the black floral napkins...they are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI have some similar plates from Nell Hill's and I like how you mixed it with the ribbed plates and black stemmed glasses.
