I'm delighted to participate in the first Pink Saturday of 2009. For more pinkness, visit Beverly's fabulous blog
How Sweet The Sound.
Today, my pink contribution is a transferware teapot and two eggcups.

Technically, they are red transferware, but it's rather faded and it's definitely pink.

I found the egg cups years ago--and it's a good thing, considering that we live on a farm with all varieties of chickens. Even our ducks are laying eggs.

Here's a closer look at the transferware egg cup. It's enormous and would require a super jumbo egg. I use it for many un-eggy things--a tiny jam server, jelly beans at Easter, and sometimes I add a bit of water and use it for a vase.

I love the "castle" ironstone because the art tells a story. If you click on the picture, you'll be able to see the castle. At first I thought it was Westminister, but the landscape suggests mountains.

Well, I'm hopping over to see
Beverly and celebrate the pink.
Love the teapot and egg cups... it is always a treat to come see what treasure you are going to share!
ReplyDelete(Hope you are feeling better now!)
Now that is something I would be interested in collecting. I love your transferware. I have never been a collector. But, you are changing my mind!! It sounds like your farm is such a beautiful place to live. You are a very lucky lady! Hugs, Terrie
ReplyDeleteHappy PINK Saturday to you Gollum...now girl I love that tea pot..I have a platter in Blue like that and did't know they made it in pink.. I so remember your Egg cups from RMS..and maybe the large one is for a duck egg..when I raised Ostrichs one egg could feed 10 people and I did use them..are quail eggs I also used for baking 1 quail egg equal 1 chicken egg..hope you have a breathe good day...hugs and smiles Gloria
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful PINK post! I love the large egg cup. ♥ Diane
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday Gollum, your teapot is so pretty, love the roses around the edge and on the spout (is it Johnson Bros, Old Britian Castles?). That is a large egg cup, it's pretty too and so versatile. you have such a wonderful collection, I love looking at all of it. have a lovely weekend, Kathy.
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday Gollum! Such lovely dishes as usual, I'm developing an eye for dishes because of you!
ReplyDeleteGood morning and Happy Pink Saturday.
ReplyDeleteI definitely consider my red transferware on the pink side, too. Your pieces are just lovely. I have a special fondness for egg cups.
Happy Pink Saturday Gollum. What a beautiful teapot..it would work in well with many of mine. :-) The egg cup is "huge" but gorgeous. I only have 2 of this darling little things. None large enough for water and flowers. But jellybeans at Easter sounds like fun. I'm happy to report these mice don't have red eyes or a brow..ummmm wonder where they came from? lol
ReplyDeleteI'm off to see more pink.
hugs ~lynne~
WOW...that teapot is to die for!!
ReplyDeleteLovely!!
I love them! You have taken me back in time today. When I was a kid, my Mom had a set of egg cups that looked like little people. We loved eating our eggs from them. I wonder what happened to them?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pink treasures. I've always wondered about red transferware, because it does look pink. Was it really red at one time? Love your ideas for the use of the large egg cup. laurie

ReplyDeleteI realized - this morning - that I really don't have much pink in my life. I thinks it's because I have too much pink in my complexion! I am going to post a short piece today featuring what I do have that's pink!

ReplyDeleteThat teapot is wonderful with its glorious edge treatment. Just beautiful!! Sally
ReplyDeleteOh, the tea pot is so lovely! I do love the egg holder too. You, know I do not have even one! After living on this farm so many years! I going to have to fix that. lol Hope you are better. I got a baby coming today. My goat bagged up a couple of days ago. Went to check on her this morning. She breathing hard, and only wanted me to rub her. As I go to leave, she wraps her horns around my leg and tore it across, now my guard dog go for me, for I holding her by the horn to keep her off. I was in a fix. I finally got a stick and put in front of me and told my dog go to the barn, then I ran! lol You would have to be there, since my illness, I can't run, but I gave it a good try. lol Another time I would have jumped the fence, no I would have been stronger and able to deal with it. She just wanted me to stay with her. She staying at the gate, as if she knows I will be there. They usually go to the barn. Ouch, My leg hurts. lol
ReplyDeleteGollum thanks for stopping by my blog for Pink Saturday. I love your post and egg cups.. the teapot too.. but you just don't see egg cups too much anymore! I have some, but never think to use them for anything... Maybe chocolate easter eggs this year? hummmm that's a thought!
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday down on the farm.. got chores to do myself!
Hello beautiful~ah if only all my shades of red would fade, i would have plenty of home shots for Pink Sat. LOL...but it looks as though i shall soon be forced on Pink Hunt excursions!

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful teapot that is. I really enjoy egg cups too! Happy Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteI am ok. It hurts, but it will heal! I brave and went out after dark to check on her with a flash light. Now I never been scared, but she would run right behind me or beside me. I heart was beating fast! My sweet gaurd dog was jumping at me too. She must know something is up. No baby yet, glad its in the 70's here. Her bag is so full, it has to be twins. She never had a baby before, so I trying to keep a close eye on her. Oh, I've had tons of sheep and goats, that get sore and start to hopping around, you see nothing at first. We use to walk them through meds for foot rot. Maybe that could be what starting. If so better keep her away from the others it gets in the ground and the whole herd or flock will get it. I did and say did have a ram that would knock me off my feet, everyday. We finally had to sell him after hubby saved me one day. I had took about ten knock downs. lol They say do not be friends with the rams, for they have no fear of you and you get knocked down. I know its true, for he was a sweetheart when he was young. Back to goat watch, wish me luck. lol
ReplyDeleteYou know, with allllll my dishes, I do not own one egg cup. Looks like I'll have to go out looking on Monday! ;)
