Ever since the Sur La Table catalog arrived, I have been staring at the dessert on the cover. I didn't have access to the specific ingredients, so, like most hungry cooks, I improvised. Do you have an easy, summery tart recipe? What about savory tarts? Here's the recipe from their website:
No-Bake Lemon Berry Tartlets

• 1 cup whipped cream
• 1 package of 24 Mini Tart Shells

OMG This is like pure torture I'm sitting here at 9:30PM craving something sweet and not wanting to run down to the store and what do I see when I check out your blog...these wonderful little tarts. This is NOT helping my sweet tooth tonight. LOL
ReplyDeleteI think these look delicious! I am so not a cook. I am lucy that the bakery close by makes wonderful goodies! I love to clean and decorate and of course plant and garden....but (and Gloria will be happy to hear this) I am a a girl that hates to cook! I do enjoy making the large meals for special occasions, and have never heard a complaint, but you, have me beat here!
ReplyDeleteThose look so delicious. What a wonderful breakfast food...fruit and dairy, lol!

These look 'scrump-deli-icious' Gollum! Nothing like a treat of fresh berries. Thank you for sharing it. (I presume the pepackaged tart shells are prebaked and the powdered sugar is icing sugar?) For those interested; an easy recipe for making your own shells is: 1 cup of butter, 1 (3 oz.) package softened cream cheese and 2 cups-all purpose flour. Fresh berries go exceptionally well with this base. Also when a recipe calls for whipped cream often I add a bit of Kahlua....3 tsps. to 2 cups of unwhipped w/c, then beat. Oh, if one can't find the lemon curd, an instant pie filling will work as well as so does prepared jams. All sooooo yummy and of course low-cal. Wishing you a beautiful week and bon appetite!!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe it ... the only thing I DON'T have here is the whipping cream. I'm out the door.
ReplyDeleteCan't I just get these delivered? I've been craving something fruity! Now, I have to put this on my to do list today! Yummmmy! Thanks for the recipe (I think). I'll let you know how much weight this puts on me!!!!

ReplyDeleteGood Morning Gollum, those tarts look yummy. I have a weakness for Custard and Bakewell Tarts, I have found a simple recipe for
ReplyDeleteTraditional Organic Custard Tarts, using organic milk and eggs, which means they must be good for you :)
So eat up and Enjoy!. Kathy.

Oh PS. I tried to have a wander round RMS to catchh up last night but it was soooo slow I gave up. does anyone know if this is due to the fact that the new show has aired and millions of new folks are uploading, this is excellent news as there will be loads of inspiration, but not so good if I have to spend double the time on RMS, sometimes hubbies shirts are not always ironed, ooppss. Kathy
ReplyDeleteWhat a yummy dessert. And there's no baking! I always enjoy your creative menu ideas. I'll make it when we entertain on our patio this week. Fieldstone/Pam

Hi Gollum, I wasn't sure when you might be doing another tag posting but I would like to tag:
ReplyDeletenkiss18@yahoo.com "Hallway" with the positively dreamy painting of a lovely harbor scene. The arrangement/vignette on the table under the painting is also very nice! Thanks so much for all you do! Susan
10:15PM and no chance of making these tonight...Darn! Years ago lived near a small village market that stocked something similar to this in their bakery dept. They were the "emergency" dessert in our house until the market closed! Will definitely serve these to guests on Friday! Thank you for the memory and the recipe! Nancy
